Legft: Dreams carry real messages

Charles Rycroft, one of the famous contemporary British psychoanalysts, summed up his experience and feelings of practicing medicine for 30 years, tried to answer the problems that had not been solved by the theory of dreamology, and tried to draw on all kinds of knowledge to establish a relatively perfect theory of dreamology.

Legft believes that dreaming is self-communication, so the intention used in dreaming only needs to be understood by oneself, and there is no need to seek the sympathy of others. The dreamer can, at will, attach a meaning to an image which only he understands, and use it to express his thoughts and feelings. The meaning of the intention is temporary and is given by the individual, and what these unit intentions mean depends on their role in the overall structure of the dream.

Legft also believes that dreams are meaningful, and the reason why most dreams cannot be understood is that the dreaming self looks at the problem from an eternal, infinite and comprehensive position, and has a deeper understanding of the whole self. The information it transmits is derived from the real self, and it still retains some real qualities that have been abandoned and repressed by the waking self. The dreaming self, on the other hand, receives this information only in a limited, partial, stage-specific position; it does not want to listen to the ideas of the dreaming self, because they are unwelcome and disturbing to it, for fear of taking the words of the dreaming self too seriously and affecting its own existence.

Legft believes that dreamers act by using their imagination to create a series of meaningful events. Dream interpretation is to find out the reason for this behavior, to find out what he wants to express through this behavior, what thoughts and feelings and opinions he wants to tell himself or others.

Like other mysteries of mankind, although the study of dreams has a long history, we still have a lot of puzzles about it, but I believe that we are getting closer to the truth.
